These Dark Chocolate & Sea Salt Pretzel Clusters are sweet, salty, and crunchy. They’re a healthy way to keep candy in your diet!
Jump to RecipeCandy is obviously the first thing to go in a diet. It has no nutritional value and is really just empty calories because of that. But candy is fun. And it's delicious. And it makes us happy. So, my usual question, how do we make this better? How do we make it so that there is nutritional value and something worth being on our meal plan?
NUTRITIONAL CANDY
Well, first things first – dark chocolate is actually loaded in antioxidants, flavanols, iron, and other minerals. The benefits include heart health, lower blood pressure, increase insulin sensitivity, help to protect our cells from free radicals that cause disease, and the list goes on. I mean, if I get all those benefits from eating some candy, sign me up.
Another star nutritional ingredient in these clusters is dried cranberries. These little babies do more than just prevent UTIs. They are packed with polyphenols that offer benefits to your heart, urinary tract, and cancer prevention. They also have a good deal of fiber in them, which keeps us full and promotes a healthy digestive tract.
All these health benefits mean that these candy clusters are most definitely not just “empty calories”. Although they seem like indulgent little treats, they offer some real advantages! You can play with the recipe as well and really add whatever you’d like. Nuts, peanut butter, other dried fruits, coconut, etc would be great mix-ins for these clusters.
HOW TO MAKE THESE
These Dark Chocolate & Sea Salt Pretzel Clusters are an effortless way to make candy at home. They’re essentially chocolate-covered pretzels – but a bit more fun and actually easier! There’s no baking, no stoves or ovens used, or even dipping for that matter. Everything gets mixed in one bowl and it doesn’t even need to harden in the refrigerator. It doesn’t get much easier than that!
If you like dark chocolate these are really a must – they have that salty and sweet thing going on as well as being crunchy while melt in your mouth smooth.
